Account of the preparation of seals for eating in Uibhist a Tuath/North Uist, including pressing blubber to extract oils. Carmichael recalls tasting the flesh of a young seal on Heisgeir [Heisker/Monach Isles] and that it was 'very agreeable.' and like venison. The accompanying proverb reads 'Bu mhath am biadh feamanaich aran seagail agus saill roin'.

Archaeological note and diagram of Leaba mhiosachain at Craoineval [Leaba a' Mhiosachan, Craonabhal/Craonaval, Uibhist a Tuath/North Uist] described as being halfway up the north west shoulder of the hill. Carmichael describes a heather-covered circle which 'seems underground' in the centre of which is a cist. At the end of the leaba is another cist. The dimensions of the leaba are noted on the diagram and noted as being outside on the lower side is a standing stone.

Scope and Contents Archaeological note entitled 'Hoilisgeir' [possibly Trolaisgeir/Trollasker, Uibhist a Deas/South Uist], which reads 'Remains of house eye of Kiln + fire place (sorn) + dyke on top of Pabby Harris 50 acres lost.' [Pabbay, Na Hearadh/Isle of Harris]. The note also states that there is lime on ruins at Kildonan [Cill Donnain, Uibhist a Deas/South Uist] and that a Mrs Macgill[ivra]y said she saw it when she was a 'lassie' and that it had 'tangles sticking out'.
